This August, Tesla is doing its best to kill it off. Europe’s first “true” V4 Supercharger station is now live at Hellerudsletta, Norway, with 28 stalls capable of up to 500kW each. At the same time, a seed build of Tesla firmware 2026.21.300 is rolling out across Europe, carrying FSD (Supervised) v14.2.2.6.

For campers, the timing is perfect. The August heatwave is pushing travellers north and into the shoulder season, and the charging network is getting faster and denser just as more of us head off on long, multi-country loops.

What Just Changed in the Supercharger Network

Until now, many European V4 stalls were connected to older V3 cabinets, which capped them at around 250kW. The new Hellerudsletta site uses genuine V4 cabinets: 1,000V architecture, one cabinet feeding up to eight stalls, and a theoretical ceiling of 500kW per stall. Tesla has also stopped building V3 cabinets and is now shipping pre-assembled “folding” V4 stations that cut installation time roughly in half and costs by more than 20%.

Oslo got the first folding-unit deployment. France, the Netherlands and the UK are expected to see more later in 2026. Poland is also moving fast, with a new 16-stall 250kW site in Wrocław and a fresh opening in Bytom filling gaps between Katowice and the Czech border.

What 500kW Means for a Camping Road Trip

Most current Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles still charge at around 250kW, so you will not see the full 500kW yet. But the new architecture removes the ceiling for future vehicles and — just as importantly — reduces the chance of arriving at a charger that is already slowed down by other cars. Higher-voltage stations mean faster, more consistent speeds for every EV that can use them.

Charging becomes a coffee break. A 10–80% stop can now be short enough that you barely finish a sandwich before the car tells you to unplug.

Longer loops become easy. Norway’s fjords, Scotland’s north coast or the Baltic run no longer need careful range math every morning.

Preconditioning does the work. Navigate to the Supercharger and the battery warms itself en route, so the first minute is already fast.

Combine Fast Charging With Off-Grid Comfort

Fast charging handles the driving days. Off-grid gear handles the campsite. Once you roll off the charger and into a remote spot, you want to keep the car as a backup rather than a generator.

Portable power. A 2048Wh LiFePO4 Portable Power Station runs lights, laptops and cooking gear so you do not drain the Tesla at night.

Cold storage. A 35L Dual-Zone Compressor Fridge keeps food fresh for multi-day loops away from shops.

Organised boot. A Tesla Trunk Organiser Box keeps charging cables, cookware and dirty boots separate on long drives between chargers.

Firmware 2026.21.300 Is the Quiet Half of the Story

Tesla began seeding firmware 2026.21.300 to a second European batch on 13 August 2026. The release carries FSD (Supervised) v14.2.2.6, currently in a tiny seed rollout. For camping road trips, the practical value today is still on motorways: lane keeping, speed adjustment and stop-start traffic relief. It is not a robotaxi, and it is not approved everywhere yet, but it is another step toward making the long drives to Scotland, Norway or Portugal less tiring.

If your car has the 2026.26 Summer Update already, you also have Set Arrival Energy and Preferred Routes, which help you hit each Supercharger with exactly the charge you planned and the route you like.

Sleep, Cook and Navigate in One Vehicle

The best camping setup is the one that lets you stay flexible. A Tesla Roof Top Tent gives you an upstairs bedroom with a view, while a Tablet Mount Holder locks a tablet in place for maps, films or campsite research. If you sleep inside the car, an Tesla Inflatable Air Mattress makes the flat rear floor comfortable, and a Tesla Induction Cooktop lets you cook hot meals anywhere without relying on camp kitchens or fire pits.

The Bottom Line

Tesla’s V4 Supercharger push and the 2026.21.300 firmware are not just tech updates — they are invitations to drive further. The charging network is now fast enough and dense enough that the question is no longer “can my EV reach the campsite?” but “which campsite do I want to reach?” Charge fast, camp comfortably, and make the most of Europe before autumn arrives.

Range anxiety has been the campfire ghost story of EV travel for years.
