Tesla has opened the order books for the Model Y Performance in Europe. Priced from €61,990 and built at Gigafactory Berlin, deliveries are set to start in September 2026. On paper it is the fastest Model Y yet: dual motors, 460 hp and 0-100 km/h in about 3.5 seconds. But the bigger surprise is what Tesla took out. There is no Track Mode this time. Instead, the engineering team tuned the adaptive suspension and driving dynamics for real-world comfort, making this Performance version less about lap times and more about covering big distances quickly and quietly.

It Is Fast, But Not Fussy

Old performance EVs often traded ride quality for numbers. This one does not. Tesla simplified the drive modes to Chill, Standard and Insane, added adaptive dampers with Standard and Sport settings, and deleted the multi-stage stability and torque-vectoring toys that nobody uses on a campsite access road.

What that means in practice:

• Motorway miles feel relaxed. The suspension soaks up expansion joints and badly surfaced French autoroutes far better than the previous Performance Y.

For campers, the sweet spot is this: you get a car that is genuinely fun on a twisting Alpine pass, genuinely comfortable on a six-hour Autobahn run, and genuinely practical when you unfold a chair at the lake. That combination is rare.
